The topic in which I am interested in researching and writing about is teenage pregnancy. I want to know why it has increased overtime, exactly how much it has increased, and if the impact of education has anything to do with that. Is the age getting younger becuase maybe more and more young girls are engaging in sexual intercourse before they are educated about it. Educated about birth control, condoms, about sex period, myths and facts about pregnancy. Why is the rate getting higher? IS this some sort of trend? When I entered high school a girl had gotten pregnant in her freshman year. Two more girls got pregnant during my sophomore year, and many more got pregnant during junior and senior year. It was ridiculous, when two of my friends had told me they got pregnant (one my senior year of high school and the other during my freshman year of college) I was shocked. Many of these girls do not want to deal with the consequences that come along with it. And then think about all the girls who did get pregnant, but we don't know about. The ones who got abortions, or had miscarriages. Some girls even hide their pregnancies so well that their parents don't even know about it until it is time for them to give birth at the hospital, and unfortunately I have heard of cases where others hide it, give birth, and dispose of the child after like it is trash and goes on to live their life as if nothing ever happened. Pregnancy can have many affects on a young girls life. Psychological,emotional,physical..
I want to explore this topic because one day I am going to be a teache, an elementary school teacher. And as an educator I need to know if there is anything I can do as an educator to help these young women before they make decisions they regret. Such as proposing the idea of abstinence, and even of these young women/girls do not want to abstain, educate them about birth control and condoms too, at least anything to make the rate go down so that they do not have to go through these life changing expieriences when/if they are not ready and something can be done about it to prevent it.

I like the way you explore your idea about the effect of teenage pregnancy. When I was in high school, I was also wondering why number of teenage pregnancy kept increasing overtime. Therefore, I think your research topic will clarify this.
